Are we there yet? You have heard it from the back seat many times. How about, are you complete yet? I mean is God done with you? I hope your response is no, because God has “begun a good work in you” (Philippians 1:6). That’s good news for the believer that God has begun or started when you received Him as your Savior and Lord. But there is more good news. “He will complete (bring it to completion) it until the day of Christ Jesus”(v. 6 NIV, NKJV). The KJV says that He will perform it until Jesus’ return to rule and reign. The Living Bible says His grace is working to finish the task. The Message says that He will bring it to a “flourishing finish.”
I am getting the idea that God is continually active in our lives guiding us in good works for His Kingdom from our salvation to His return. By the way, if you believe as I do that He will rapture His people before the tribulation, we will already be with Him as He is completing us. This is the sanctification process, which is continuous. The Thompson Chain Reference Bible speaks of this process as “Spiritual Renewal” in the Holy Spirit. This is the new man working in us. Isaiah 40:31 tells us that “those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings of eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk, and not faint.”
I look to Romans 12:1-2, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” God is transforming us as we totally submit to Him. Don’t miss the blessings that come even in trials. This is a continual renewing of our minds to be like HIm. I don’t know about you, but this is very exciting for me.
