"Let it go!"

The movie “Frozen” is for kids. Billions have been spent on costumes for Halloween. I have seen dozens of them at the door begging for candy. This little girl in the blue dress with white ice says she will make a difference over the Ice Queen. What a show of endearing memory and good values, right? Not so fast. Let’s look at the words of the theme song:
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation,
And it looks like I'm the queen.

The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried!

Don't let them in, don't let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
Well, now they know!

Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door!

I don't care
What they're going to say
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway!

It's funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can't get to me at all!

It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me I'm free!

Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You'll never see me cry!

Here I stand
And here I'll stay
Let the storm rage on!

My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back,
The past is in the past!

Let it go, let it go
And I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone!

Here I stand
In the light of day
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway!

“No right, not wrong, no rules for me, I’m free! … That perfect girl is gone.”  That’s for sure. This perfect little girl that children adore and parents smile for is not one who has a philosophy of life that will endear her to parents easily, especially if they say they are Christian. Do you notice anarchy in the words? Kind of like the post-Trump win response from the left and their hired thugs. Sorry, that’s just the truth. These are sore losers from the President on down. I don’t get it. But then the platform said that their new government would give everyone everything they wanted.  That is not what government is for.

You see that is not what our country’s values are based upon. It is strong individualistic values of self-reliance not government. Now that is not what I happen to believe it the value set of our country as we were founded on Judeo-Christians values that said to love one another and to serve, not ask for a handout. There are not only a Constitution and Bill of Rights, but 300 years of law making that says that we are not in it for ourselves but for the Republic and certain inalienable rights on which it stands. This little blue girl wants it all without rules or right or wrong. All the past is forgotten, not like the Apostle Paul helping us to press on toward the goal of the higher calling in Christ Jesus. This little girl is calling for revolution, “let the storm rage.”

Hey parents, have you read the words? Do you know what your children adore? Do you know that it flies in the face of our country’s values and beliefs? Or are you just ready to revolt and have it your way? Why not let everyone in without vetting. Isn’t it the way we used to do it? No it is not. We have always been careful and required all immigrants to be known and assimilate. Just look at the mistaken Europeans and the chaos that it has brought them. This morning I met with missionaries to a city just north of London that is 85% Muslim. The residents have no intention of assimilating. They will stay separated and have a theology to take over the world and kill the infidels. That’s not peaceful co-existence or anything close to it. If this is a religion of peace, why is no one standing up and showing us.

We are a country of laws and that’s OK. We are a country that expects citizens to speak their minds yet obey, but not treasonously.  I for one am all for immigrants that want to assimilate and live by the rules and laws of our country. Failing that, they should not come in. This is not religious persecution, it is wisdom.

“The past is prologue.” I fear so. Murderous ideas from Shakespeare’s Tempest say to murder. Yes, history is important. Moreover, it is our foundation and the cultural ethic by which we have come to be the most generous and powerful nation in world history. That is not by accident, although there have been serious wrongs such as slavery and segregation. There have also been the most important democratic steps taken in world history on behalf of those who would become Americans.  As well, we have reached out to help. This generosity has not met with thanks by many and perhaps needs to be carefully reconsidered for the future. We are not our brothers keeper, however we care about oppression, poverty and violence against the weak here and around the world. We are not all about “me” like the frozen girl queen, ready to “slam the door” on us.

Be wise, self-controlled and be alert, for the devil prowls around looking for someone to devour Peter tells us. “Resist him, standing firm in the faith.” (1 Peter 5:9). And don’t be anxious about it either, but cast your troubles upon the Lord, because He cares for you. There is good and evil, light and dark. Be discerning and know, or “let it go.” Just know that it matters which side we are on.  One leads to eternal darkness and one leads to eternal light and life.
