Have you wandered the paths in the forest? Have you seen the light of the sun sourcing through the trees golden-plating the leaves and washing a mystical haze through the morning mist? If you haven’t lately, go now and find a forest. If you are able, go to the Red Wood forests of Northern California. There the immensity of the 300-foot towering Sequoia creates a giant sanctuary.
There you will find silence and solitude that brings serenity for your spirit if you let it. This is a gift of God to the one who seeks separation from the crowd to be alone with our Creator. This is one of the special places I go in guided imagery in my own minds eye to contemplate sensually with all of my neurolinguistic and spiritual antennae.
I can hear the wind whispering through the needles and leaves, massaging my ears and brain into a serene state of relaxation. I can feel the mist on my face and see the silver-gold flicker on my iris. The touch of the white pine’s smoothness brushing my cheek sends shivers deep into my spirit. I am becoming one with creation. This is part of our worship, not of nature, but nature’s God. He made it for us to enjoy and conserve.
