Restore Us Again

Restore us Again
God restored His people, the fortunes of Jacob or Israel as Psalm 85 tells of His faithfulness. This photo taken by my cousin and landscape photographer Douglas F. Frank brings to mind one of the most beautiful passages in Scripture saying, “Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven” (Psalm 85:10-11).  This is the covenant blessing that God has with His people, until they overflow.

The trees in this image seem to reach out and touch, even embrace. The blossoms tell a story of bounty and even peace. You may not feel a sense of abundance today. Perhaps you are ill or other fortunes have been lost. Yet we serve a God who will restore. ‘“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten’” (Joel 2:25). The prophet speaks of the wonders that the Lord will repay His people for devastation.  Then He speaks of the Messianic period to come saying, “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
there will be deliverance, as the Lord has said,
even among the survivors whom the Lord calls (Joel 2:28-32).

All of the prophets told of the Messianic times to come. That time has come. Jesus Christ who was born to a virgin in Bethlehem has fulfilled many prophesies. His death on a cross and His resurrection on Easter fulfills 300 Old Testament prophesies for those who would open their eyes and hearts.  All they need to do is call on the name of the Lord and they will be saved from devastation and eternal darkness away from the presence of God.

This Easter, choose the One who redeems and forgives all sins, bringing life and life eternal to His people.
